He passed away Wednesday, May 18, 1988 at his home. He was born on a ranch in Center Point November 28, 1908, he lived there as a boy. He attended Center Point and prep school and college in the East. A graduate of MIT in 1931, his first job was as a mining engineer in San Barbara, Chihuahua, Mexico, where he met Helen Griffith, daughter of the mines chief engineer, and married her June 16, 1932. He worked at San Luis Potosi, Mexico until 1933 when he moved to Taviche near Oaxaca. From there he moved to El Potusi near Huicicila, then he came back to the US to mine near Christmas, Arizona. From there he moved to British Columbia, Canada, and in 1940 returned to the US to the Patagonia-Harshaw, Arizona mine. He came home to the Center Point ranch in July 1944, and lived there the remainder of his life as a farmer/rancher. He was a member of the Episcopal church.
Survivors include: wife, Helen Walker; two daughters, Charlotte Jennings of Center Point and Katherine Loomiller of Phoenix, Arizona; one son, George P Walker, III of Canyon Lake; one brother, Major General Edwin A Walker of Dallas; and eight grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice. Kerrville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
