Francis Marion McAllister

Francis Marion "Mac" McAllister, Age 91, formerly of Sophia, died on October 18, 2010 at Randolph Hospital.

He was the son of Grace Prugh McAllister Darst and James McAllister of Marysville, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise Lamb McAllister and Stepson John Stephen Gnida.

He is survived by daughter-in-law Alice Gnida, Granddaughter Elisabeth Gnida, Grandson Travis Gnida and wife Kate, and two Great-grandchildren Julia and Gabe.

Mac was very proudly retired from the United States Marine Corp where he served in the Pacific participating in action at Guadalcanal during World War II and also serving during the Korean Conflict. He was also retired from the City of Asheboro.

A private service is planned with burial at Randolph Memorial Park.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff of Randolph Health and Rehabilitation for their care during Mac's recent years. We would also like to express our sincere appreciation for the care and kindness our family and Mac have received at Randolph Hospital. Special angels there have held our hands and hearts, not once but twice in recent months. To them, we are forever thankful.
