Daughter of Conrad Peter Heinrich and Maria Sophia Friederika (Friedrichsen) Nielsen, she was born in 08 Apr 1872 in Hollmühle, Schleswig-Flensburg, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany and emigrated to America in 1882 from northern Germany. The burial location for her parents is not known, but her grandparents, Hans Adolph and Anna Margaretha (Henningsen) Nielsen are buried in Saint Katherine's Lutheran Cemetery in Gelting, Germany.

She married 1) William Walker in 1894, who she apparently divorced, and later married 2) Henry Pettingill ca. 1918. Christina and William had two children: Arthur and Rena (Walker) Murtagh.

Interestingly, Christina and both her husbands are buried in the same Lot #258 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. There are no grave markers for either Christina or William.

Christina's brothers Adolph, Nicholas, John, and Andrew; plus a half sister Friedricke Petersen also emigrated from Germany and initially settled in Douglas or Sarpy counties. Andrew later moved to Minnesota.
