Ella was the first chartered member of the Plymouth Parlor 86 of the NDGW. She and her husband bought the McGee Hotel on Main St, and renamed it the Adams House. She continued to run the hotel long after her husband died in 1899. The hotel burned twice, the first in 1908 and she rebuilt, and again in 1931, which she did not rebuild. The former location is where McGee Park is in the center of town.
