OBITUARY (From Johnson City Press, Johnson City, TN - Sep. 1972)

Mrs. Lucy Hodge Hilton, 81, Rt. 4, city, died at 2:10 a.m. Wednesday in Memorial Hospital following an illness of four months.

A lifelong resident of Washington County, she was a daughter of the late Dr. Nathaniel and Margaret Gibson Hodge.

Mrs. Hilton was a member of the Union Baptist Church, Bristol Highway. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late William Weldon Hilton, and two sons, Robert L. and Quentin V. Hilton.

Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Orren, Rt. 4, city, three sons, Dennis E., city; Rev. Roger E. Pearisburg, Va.; Donald L. Hilton, Kingsport. Also surviving are a brother, Edward Hodge of Georgia, 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, one niece and one nephew.

She was the grandmother of Rebecca Hilton, staff cartoonist of the Johnson City Press-Chronicle this summer.

Appalachian Funeral Home is in charge.

Gravesite Details

Lucy is buried alongside her son, Robert "Bob" Lowell Hilton. While there is currently no headstone to mark her grave, family are now making arrangments to purchase a marker for her.
