Mike was born in St. Charles, MO, but his family moved to Pilot Grove soon after his birth. He grew up there, working on his father's dairy farm. Attending a two room school at Clear Creek gave Mike fodder for many of his wonderful stories about things like olives, nuns, a hole in the wall and even firewood. After graduating from Pilot Grove High School, Mike attended the University of Missouri, where he met Carol. They married on May 24, 1975.
Mike went on to become very knowledgeable and skilled in framing carpentry. He was proud of his skills and was always happy to help out family and friends with their construction projects.
In 1980, Mike and Carol welcomed Dan into the family and he was joined by Mona in 1984. Family was always important to Mike, whether it was the family he grew up in, the family he created, the extended network of aunts, uncles and cousins or the family he married into.
Many people who knew him would be surprised to know how serious Mike was about his religion. He was, however, a man who never missed mass and always strove to do what was right.
Mike donated his body to the University of Missouri's School of Medicine, Department of Pathology & Anatomical Sciences. His remains were cremated and now rest in Memorial Cemetery in a plot dedicated to donors.
