Mrs Lucy Norville, an aged and well known resident of Roseville, committed suicide by hanging herself Friday morning at the home of her son J.W. Norville, living southwest of here with whom she had been making her home.
The son and family went to visit friends in Monmouth and Galesburg tha morning and had left the mother at home. When they returned in the evening about 5:30 o'clock the lifeless body of the woman was found lying on the bathroom floor.
Lucy Mitchell was born August 12, 1840 in Robstown, West Moreland county, Penn., and came west with her parents at age 15. They made the trip via Ohio, Mississippi, and Illinois Rivers, landing at Coperas Creek, Illinois,then by the way of wagon to London Mills, Illinois.
She married Elisha Norville in 1859. He preceeded her in death in 1893. To this union six children were born, 3 boys and 3 girls, all girls having preceeded her in death. The three sons are J.W., J.F., and J.O. Norville.
