The Dalles Man Killed
Ernest Charles Fitzgerald, 71, The Dalles, died in a crash shortly after noon Sunday on the Evergreen Highway 4 miles east of Washougal, Wash. A passenger in his car, Mrs. Millie Bateson, 71, also of The Dalles, suffered abrasions of the forehead, nose and right leg. Washington State patrolmen said that Fitzgerald has just passed a pickup truck and swerved to avoid killing a dog. The car slid, rolled over twice and stopped on its side over a bank. Fitzgerald, pinned under the car, was pronounced dead at the accident scene by a Camas physician.
