Thaddeus was the son of Stephen Collins and Sarah Keep. Brimfield VR's give birth year as 1762. He married Esther Foster on 9 Apr 1786 in Walpole, Cheshire County, NH.

Their first child, Esther, was born in Walpole, NH. The next four boys, Alpheus, Thaddeus, Jr, Moses Foster, and Walter, were born in Brandon, Rutland County, Vermont. The last three children were born in Phelps, Ontario County, NY.

Walter died young.

Thaddeus fought in the Revolutionary War. His DAR ancestor number is A024561

Thaddeus Collins went into the American army during the Revolutionary war, at the age of sixteen, from Long Meadow, Mass., or Brimfield, and served three years. He afterwards settled in Rose Valley. In the War of 1812, he, with others, went to Sodus Point to assist in the defense of that place. He died at Rose, September 4, 1828, aged sixty-six years. Mr. Collins was an early resident of Phelps, having probably settled there about 1798, and came to Rose in 1812 or '13.
