Eliza Ellen Helton was born in Kentucky as the 7th ( of 12 )child of John Wesley & Harriet Letitia (Young) Helton.

She met and then married William Keller Black on March 3, 1898 in Harrodsburg, Mercer County, Kentucky.

After their marriage, they moved to Littleton, then Sciota, before settling in Macomb in 1938.

To this union were born 7 children :

Ava May Black
Beulah Cynthia Black
Albert Black
Margaret Bell Black
Lillian Ethel Black
Ray Curtis Black

Ellen was a life long member of the Baptist Church.

She died on May 27, 1967 at the Westfall Nursing Home in Prairie City, Illinois.

She was survived by 6 children : Bert, Ray, Margaret, Ava, Lillie & Beulah; 13 grandchildren ; 18 great grandchildren ; and 6 great great grandchildren ; two brothers : Charles & Edward ; a sister, Mrs. Harry Gass.

Her husband, Kellar and one Daughter, Myrtle is deceased.

Eliza Ellen Helton Black was 87 years, 3 months and 15 days old when she passed away.

Funeral services were held at the Doddsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home with the Rev. Cecil Swindle officiating.

Burial was at the Forest Lawn Memory Gardens west of Macomb.

She is buried beside her husband in the ' Shepard on the Mount ' Section of the Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Macomb, McDonough County, Illinois.

Mrs. Eliza Black of Macomb Dies
Mrs. Eliza Ellen Black, 87, of Macomb, died Monday at the Westfall Nursing Home in Prairie City. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Doddsworth-Piper-Wallen Chapel. The Rev. Cecil Swindle will officiate and burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Mrs. Black was born February 14, 1880 in Kentucky, the daughter of John Wesley and Harriet Young Helton. She lived at Sciota and Littleton before coming to Macomb in 1938. She was a member of the Baptist Church. She married William Keller Black March 3, 1898. He died in 1956. Surviving are six children, Bert Black of R.R. Fandon, Ray Black and Mrs. Loyd (Margaret) DeCamp of Macomb, Mrs. Cecil (Ava) Flynn of Phoenix, Arizona, Mrs. Lillie Larner of Galesburg and Mrs. William (Beulah) Titus of Clarkston, Washington, 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren ; two brothers, Charles Helton and Edward Helton, both of Sciota ; and a sister, Mrs. Harry Gass of Monmouth. A daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Britton, is deceased. Friends may call at the funeral home. Visitation with the family will be this evening from 7 to 9 p.m.
