Judith Marguerite (MacDonald) Alvey died peacefully, with her two children by her bedside on Sunday, June 26, 2011, at Hemet Valley Medical Center (California). Judith resided in Hemet, California, for the past four years, where she was enjoying retirement. Prior to her retirement, Judy was a very well-respected and dedicated high school English/Humanities teacher for over 20 years, in the Schenectady City School District. Judy was born and raised in Patchogue, New York, and always proudly considered this to be her home. She received her bachelor of arts degree from Skidmore College in Saratoga, New York and later, her master of science degree from the State University of New York at Albany. Surviving family members include her two beloved children, her son, W. Douglas Alvey, who resides in Guilderland, New York; and her daughter, Samantha Motto, who resides in Niskayuna, New York. Judy is also survived by her two brothers, James MacDonald of Hemet, CA, and Jeffrey MacDonald of Cumberland, MD; her daughter-in-law, Rachael Alvey and son-in-law, Glenn Motto. Judy has four beautiful grandchildren, Austin Alvey, Savannah Alvey, Gavin Motto and Madeline Motto. Judy had a very strong spirit and an incredible heart. She will be greatly missed by her children and fondly remembered by her family and friends. Her family honored her wishes to be laid to rest at sea. A memorial service in her honor will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society .
