Born January 12, 1907, in Carmichaels, Greene County, he was a son of James Newton and Elizabeth Bailey Scott.
He was a self-employed excavating contractor for most of his life and last worked as vice president and line foreman for South Penn Telephone of Waynesburg.
Mr. Scott was a longtime member of Taylorstown Presbyterian Church.
In 1928, he married Gladys Cree, who died in August 1971. He married Bertha Colebank, who died September 8, 1975. His third wife, Sally Ann Gillispie Burleigh, died August 8, 1988.
Surviving are two sons, six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
One son, William Bailey Scott, died in 1949.
