He was a retiree from Nissan Manufacturing in Smyrna, Tennessee. He was an avid sports fan. As a matter of fact, he and his brother Howard, who lives in Oklahoma, would stay on the cell phone together during football games so they could enjoy each other's company and their love for the sport. He enjoyed spending time with his family and loved to go to church. He was a loyal and dedicated member of Parkway Baptist Church. His two favorite songs were "Victory in Jesus" and "It is well with my soul". His caring ways and love of life will truly be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his wife, he left to cherish his memory his daughter, Tonya (Darryl) Walker of Columbia, TN and his son, Chris (Carrie) Dickens of DeBary, FL; his brother, Howard (Susan) Dickens of Norman, OK; his pride and joy of six grandchildren: Kara Walker, Alex Owens and Mack Walker all of Columbia, TN and Emily Dickens, Aubrie Dickens and Riley Cooper Dickens all of DeBary, FL.
