Pauline Calhoun Newbrough, 93, of Lamesa, passed away on Friday, July 8, 2011, in Andrews.

Graveside services were held on Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at 10 a.m., in the Dawson County Cemetery with Brother Clifton Igo officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Branon Funeral Home.

Pauline was born on August 14, 1917, in Grimes County to T.H. and Eula Calhoun. They moved to Dawson County in 1925 where they lived on a farm in the Higginbotham Community. She married Jerry Newbrough on August 31, 1934, in the parsonage of the First Baptist Church of Lamesa. Jerry and Pauline lived in California for eight years before moving back to Lamesa. He preceded her in death on July 22, 1988.

She was an active member of the First Baptist Church for 40 years. She was involved with the Boy Scouts of America, while Dan was a Scout. She loved being a member of the First Baptist Church and would offer her helping hand in any way that she could. She enjoyed sewing, yard work and, especially, cheering on her Lady Raiders.

Pauline is survived by her four children, Roger and Jo Ann Newbrough of Lamesa and Dan and Glenier Newbrough of Andrews; eight grandkids; 17 great-grandkids; five great-great-grandkids; and a sister, Dorothy Borland of Ropesville.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; a son, Jack; a daughter, Sharon and son-in-law Ronnie Ranny; and four grandkids, Alan, Heather, Rodney and Sammi Jo.
