Mr. George Carlyle Exley, Jr. - KILDARE - Mr. George Carlyle Exley, Jr., 84, died Sunday, July 10, 2011 at Sylview Health & Rehab. The Effingham County native was a member of The Baptist Church at Ebenezer, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in WW II, was a 1949 graduate of the University of Georgia Forestry School, worked for Georgia Pacific for 13 years and then went in business for himself. He was preceded in death by his brother, Billy Exley. Survivors: daughter and son-in-law, Lane and Mark Robertson of Kildare; grandson, Jared Robertson of Kildare; brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Bebe Exley of Springfield; three sisters, Ruth McCormick of Springfield, Helen Dasher of Rincon and Betty and Lt. G. (R) Claude M. Kicklighter, Sr. of McLean, VA, and a number of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m., Monday, July 11, 2011 at Riggs Funeral Home. Memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 12, 2011 in the Chapel of Riggs Funeral Home. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby McCormick, Mickey Kicklighter, Rickey Kicklighter, Buddy Hobbs, Derek Hobbs, Chris Hobbs, Bill Exley and Tommy Exley.
