Shirley "Ann" Boyd, of Hillsdale, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2009, at the Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo. She was born April 25, 1939, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the daughter of James and Augustine Hembree.

She is survived by three children, Tom Brown, Ted (Tuesday) Brown and Susan Boyd; six grandchildren, Landry, Jessica, TJ, Norman, Courtnie and HB; one step grandchild, Michael and a very close friend, Marti Rice.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Roscoe Brown and Harold Boyd and one grandchild, Justin.

Mrs. Boyd worked as a nurse's aide for many years at three different locations, the Maple Lawn Facility, the Litchfield Nursing Center and the Hillsdale County Medical Care Facility. She and her husband, Harold owned and operated Cambria Hardware until Harold's death. She was a member of Hillsdale Assembly of God, the D.A.V. and she was a past member of the Salvation Army where she will be missed ringing bells at Christmas time. She was also involved in the Girl Scouts for many years.

A funeral service to honor the life of Mrs. Shirley Ann Boyd will be held at the Hampton-Kurtz Funeral Home in Hillsdale 11 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Dennis Haarer officiating. Interment will take place in the Cambria II Cemetery in Cambria Township. The family will receive friends for visitation 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
