Antoinnette Lee(Nettie)Slayden ,the seventh child of Wesley and Mary Slayden was born October 10,1873 in Mayfield,Kentucky.

While we have no notes on her early life,we know of her wonderful mind and the education that she obtained. She graduated from Louisiana State University at Baton Rouge and received a Bachelor of Arts degree.She attended Tulane University to earn her masters degree. She was a instructor at Louisiana State University,and also the dean of Woman. She was a professor of education and psychology at Blue Mountain University of Mississippi.She also taught classes at Whittier College at Whittier,Ca. and had Richard M. Nixon,who later became President of the United States,as a student.

As a young woman,she lived in Tocoma,Washington with her brothers Jess and Wallie,and also Kamilchie with Ridley for several years.She had a wonderful dispostion and a fine sense of humor that carried her over the rough spots.

She married Stephen Elbert Tucker about 1893 and had two daughters.Elma was born in Lawence,Kansas on 5/4/1895 and died on 6/1,1895.Her second daughter,Mildred was born in Lawrence,Kansas on 8/22/1896 and was ill a long time and while never robust,has raised three daughters of her own.

Nettie's husband,Elbert ,died in 1921.She lived in Cambria,Ca. in the 1930's and 1940's.She later lived with her brother Wallie in his home in Los Angeles,and upon his death,returned to her home in Cambria.She died on 8/31.197 in Cambria.
