Paul Dawson, 69, longtime resident of Idaho Falls until 6 years ago when he moved to Montana, died Monday at a veterans hospital in Helena from an extended illness. [Note: MT death certificate lists place of death as Fort Harrison, Lewis and Clark Co., MT]

He was born July 2, 1892, at LaHarpe, Ill., to L. P. and Mary Finch Dawson. He came to Idaho Falls with his parents in 1910. He resided here until 6 years ago when he went to Butte. He was a veteran of World War I.

He is survived by brothers, Oliver Dawson of Idaho Falls and Wendell Dawson, Kirkland, Wash.; and a sister, Mrs. Amy Marshall of Montara, Calif.

Following is an excerpt from Memoirs and Kin to Me, Written during the Winter of 1947-1948, by Mary Finch Dawson:

"James Paul and Ruth Mildred, twins, were born July 1, 1892, on the Aunt Lou Kern Farm, near La Harpe, Ill. Ruth died February 12, 1893.

We moved to Estelline, South Dakota, in 1907, when Paul was 14 years old, and he finished high school in Estelline. Paul attended Business College in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and graduated in bookkeeping. He was in limited service during World War I, stationed first in Fremont, Calif., and then at Jefferson Barracks, Mo., where he received an honorable discharge in Dec. 1918. He makes his home with us in Idaho Falls."
