Julia Blackard
Funeral services were scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Mt. Zion Baptist
Church in Galvez for Julia Wright Blackard, 72, a native of Red Bay, Ala., and
a resident of Schriever who died Sunday at 10:57 p.m. at Thibodaux General
Hospital.
Visitation will be 3:30-10 p.m. today and 8-9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Welsh
Funeral Home, Gonzales. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Galvez.
She is survived by her husband, Doyle H. Blackard; two daughters, Mrs. Cline
(Elois) Causey, Galvez, and Mrs. Earl (Elaine) Brown, Thibodaux; two sons,
Sonny Blackard, Schriever and Hoyt Blackard, Thibodaux; four sisters, Clifta
Ford of Red Bay, Grace Mosely of Dennis, Miss., Ethel Cooper of Memphis and
Flossie Carlisle of Chalmette.
She is also survived by 20 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parent; John and Martha Singleton Wright; a
son, Louisteen Blackard and three brothers.
