NORTH OGDEN – Wanda G. Chatelain, 86, died Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at Crestwood Care Center of causes incident to age.

Wanda was born October 22, 1922 in Ogden, a daughter of A. Edwin "Dick" and LaDean M. Metters Garner.

She married Delbert E. Chatelain on May 19, 1942 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Delbert preceded her in death on August 24, 1977.

She graduated from Ogden High School and worked for Mountain Bell Telephone, Adjutant General Depot and Government Printing Plant at Defense Depot Ogden. She also worked for 14 years in the Weber County School District, 10 of those years were at Weber High School where she loved her students and was affectionately called "Momma Chat" by teachers and students alike.

Wanda was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints North Ogden 2nd Ward. She served as a chorister, organist, secretary and Relief Society teacher. She was a member of the Ben Lomond Stake Relief Society Board and conducted a large stake choir for many years called the "Singing Angels." She was also a volunteer switchboard operator and typist for the Ogden Temple.

In 1995 she was selected as "Weber County Mother of the Year", an honor she treasured, as the most important thing in her life was her four sons. She also spent many hours at the North Ogden Senior Citizen Center where she treasured the many friends she met there.

Surviving are her sons, Timothy D. (Dawn) and Randy S. (Pam), both of North Ogden; Les K. (Leslie), Salt Lake City; Michael E. (Karla), North Ogden. She also leaves a legacy of 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Crestwood Care Center and Hospice For Utah, for their care.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd.

Friends may call at the mortuary on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
