Episcopal Minister and Educator. Rev. Marcus H. Martin served as the vicar of Christ Episcopal Church when it was located at 12th and Flower streets in Los Angeles. Before coming to Los Angeles in 1898, he served at churches in New Jersey, New York, Ohio and Michigan. In Trenton, New Jersey, he was the president of the State Teachers Association, principal of State Model School, and founder of the mission which became Grace Church. In Michigan, he was principal of the Detroit Female Institute, and a member of the bishop's council. Husband of Caroline M. King, they were the parents of Annie L. Martin, an accomplished pianist.
