Dr. Joseph Lee Stoddard, a physician, only known son of Josiah Stoddard and Almira Sill, b. May 9, 1817 in Saratoga County, NY. He died of consumption in Glens Falls, NY in April 1860 (1860 census Mortality Schedule). His entry in the Glens Fall Cemetery manuscript states:

Stoddard, J. L., age 43 [no date of death given].

He m. Aug. 25, 1841, Maria Susan Leavens, dau. of Royal Leavens and Maria Folsom, b. in Glens Falls June 10, 1820. She survived her husband and was living as his widow at Glens Falls in the June 1870 census. She m. 2) as his second wife by the June 1875 state census of Glens Falls, Lewis Charles Hamilton, and died likely in Argyle, Washington County, NY on Aug. 25, 1882 (g.s. in Glens Falls). Maria had no known children by her second husband.

Dr. Joseph Lee Stoddard and Maria Susan Leavens had the following two known children b. in Glens Falls:

• i. Addison Leavens Stoddard, b. June 21, 1842, d. Oct. 18, 1909 in Pontiac, MI; m. on June 3, 1875 in Oxford, Oakland County, MI, Emma M. Waite, dau. of Brockholst Livingston Waite and Sarah West Kathen, b. May 18, 1855 in Lakefield, Peterborough County, Ontario, Canada. They either divorced or simply reconfirmed their marriage as a second marriage for them is of record on June 27, 1906 in Detroit, MI. Emma was living with her unmarried brother Elwin L. Waite in Pontiac. MI in the April 1930 census and died there as Addison's widow on Oct . 25, 1937. Two children of the family, only one of whom married and left descendants.

• ii. Lucy S. Stoddard, b. July 1, 1855, d. Mar. 1, 1913 likely in Pasadena, CA (where she was residing in the 1910 census) and was re-interred with gravestone in May 1917 at Glens Falls, NY; m. before 1880 Lewis R. Coon, s. of Renssalaer Coon and Harriet Kemen, b. May 26, 1855 in Greenwich, Washington County, NY. They apparently separated by the June 1895 state census as each had separate residences in that census for Glens Falls. Lewis never remarried and d. July 31, 1918 in Oak Forest, IL and is purportedly buried in Chicago, IL. Six children of the family, one unnamed dying in infancy.
