From the Tennessean Newspaper obit of July 25, 1946, p.2: ARMISTEAD - Wednesday morning July 24, 1946 at 6 o'clock at a local infirmary, James Woods Armistead, survived by son John Oliver Armistead of Columbia, Tenn.: daughters, Mrs. Mary Armistead of Nashville, Mrs. Walker F. Brown of Gallatin and Mary Katheryn Thurmond of Lorain, Ohio; five grandchildren. The remains are at the Rollow & Donnelly Funeral Chapel, 1715 Broadway. Services from the chapel thursday morning at 11 o'clock conducted by John L. Ferguson and Rev. Earl Parker. Interment City Cemetery. The nephews are serving as pallbearers: Garnett S. Andrews, Forest W. Andrews, William Armistead, Sr., William Armistead, Jr., James W. Hughes, Rev. W.H. Armistead of Montreat, N.C., W.W. Armistead. Rollow & Donnelly Chapel, 1715 Broadway. (End of Obit) Obit says he was intered at City Cemetery but there is no listing for him in that cemetery. He was probably interred at Mt. Olivet Cemetery where other Armistead family members are buried.
