ARLINGTON -- Agnes Lucille Burress, 93, a retired executive secretary, died Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, in Arlington.
Funeral: 1 p.m. Tuesday at Arlington Funeral Home Chapel in Arlington. Burial: Parkdale Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Arlington Funeral Home.
Agnes Lucille Burress, 93 years of age, died Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, in Arlington of natural causes.

She was born Sept. 15, 1909, to John Roger and Martha Leila Burress in Tony near Terrell, east of Dallas. She was a sister to Mabel Burress Lovell, Raymond Burress, Eugene Burress and Christine Burress Booker.

She was an 85-year resident of Arlington, where she moved in 1917, and resided at 419 North Pecan for the past 62 years. Lucille was also a member of First Baptist Church for 85 years, where she taught nine-year-old Juniors for 52 years. She was active in the Woman's Missionary Union and other activities as well. She was also a member of the Arlington Businesswomen's Club for many years.

Her career was that of an executive secretary to one of the vice president of Texas and Pacific Coal and Oil in Fort Worth for more than 25 years until she retired in the mid-1960s. She was a graduate of Arlington High School, North Texas Agricultural and Mechanical College in Arlington (now the University of Texas at Arlington) and Mary-Hardin Baylor in Temple, all in the mid-1960s.

She will be missed by all who knew her.

Survivors: Sister, Christine; five nieces and nephews; 11 great-nieces and great-nephews; and a number of great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
