Chester W. Shipps was the founder and President of Shipps Electric Company in 1946. His Vice President was his wife Elizabeth Shipps. To this union they had nine children, fifteen grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren. Preceeded Chester in death was his wife Elizabeth 1995, Gloria 1988 and Donald 2004.

Shipps Electric provided service not only to tbe Springfield community, but areas in Lake of the Ozarks, Branson all through Southwest, MO.,to Joplin, Missouri areas. He was General Contractor on many projects, served on several boards, President of the Springfield Housing Authority, and the Electrical Contract for Resurrection Cemetery. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Catholic Faternal Society in the Roman Catholic Church in 1964 along with family friend Nick Curtis. He was a member of the 4th Degree and 1st African American Faithful Navigator in the history of the Knights of Columbus.

Mr. Shipps received serveral local, state and international awards for his hard work and service. He was awarded the United States Chamber of Commerce Award and the Minority Supplier Award in the State of Missouri.

A legend and Company who is a major part of history in Springfield, Missouri Community who paved the way for so many others. You are truly missed.

May you rest in peace in God's arms, good and faithful servant.
