Two Huntington Women Are Found Dead; Heart Attack Cause of Both

Two Huntington township women, Mrs. A.L. Burns, sixty-three and Mrs. William Slagel, thirty-nine, died suddenly Friday morning of heart disease. Mrs. Burns was found dead in bed at her home, 1434 E. Sabine street, and Mrs. Slagel suffered the fatal attack while milking in a barn on the Slagel farm, two and one-half miles west of the city.

Coroner J.W. Good found that death was due to heart trouble in both cases.

The body of Mrs. Burns was found by a daughter, Mrs. Don Homeiger, who went to the Burns home at 7:15 o'clock. Death had occurred a few hours before, Coroner Good stated. Mrs. Burns had recently suffered two strokes of paralysis which had seemingly left no serious result. Her husband, an engineer on the Erie road, was absent on a run.

Born in Pennsylvania.

Rachael Burns was born at Rockhaven, Pa., June 23, 1860, the daughter of Thomas and Caroline Daltry. Her marriage to A.L. Burns took place at Alleghany, Pa., in 1880 and three years later they came to Huntington where their home had been since. Mr. Burns was first a fireman on the Erie but was later promoted to engineer.

Surviving besides the husband are the following children: Mrs. K.D. Long of Fort Wayne; Mrs. M.R. Moosman of Fort Wayne; Mrs. M.F. McLaughlin of Long Island, N.Y.; Howard Burns of Columbus, Ohio; Thomas Burns of Flint, Mich.; Walter Burns of this city, and Mrs. Don Homeiger of this city. Ten grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a brother, John Daltry of this city, also survive. One son preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 o'clock at the residence, Rev. E.W. Cole officiating. Burial will be made in Mt. Hope cemetery.
