A native of Terre Haute, Ind., he moved to Crescent City from Jacksonville in 1985, following his retirement as yard superintendent at Jacksonville Shipyards, where he had worked 32 years. He was an elder at First Presbyterian Church in Crescent City.
He is survived by his wife, Constance Alvis of Crescent City; daughters, Catherine Dianne Law of Waldo, Charylne Victoria Kattreh and Janice Sue Ables, all of Jacksonville; brother, Logan V. Alvis of Jacksonville, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church in Crescent City with the Rev. William L. Shea and the Rev. Larry Law officiating. Burial will be in Eden Cemetery in Crescent City.
