Funeral services for Mrs. Jewel Davis Townley will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005 in Hineston Tabernacle with the Revs. Harlis Meylian and Sonny Murphy officiating. Interment will follow in Resthaven Cemetery, Oakdale under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale.
Mrs. Townley, 90, of Elmer entered eternal rest on Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005 in Naomi Heights Nursing Home, Alexandria.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Townley; her son, M. L. Townley; two sisters and five brothers.
Jewel, a lifelong resident of the Hineston community, was a loving mother, grandmother, wife, sister and friend. She gave unselfishly and generously of herself, always thinking of others. She was devoted to her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She will be sadly missed by all whom she touched and inspired. She will forever be in our hearts, thoughts and prayers.
She is survived by two daughters, Montez Meylian and Peggy Pickering, both of Hineston; one brother, Vernon Davis of New Llano; seven grandchildren, Diane Clark, Linda Daniels, Ilene Terrell, Doris Callender, Martin Pickering, Melissa Johnson and Duane Meylian; 10 great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Hineston Tabernacle from 8 a.m. until time of service on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are David Clark, Paul Clark, Trampus Daniels, Jammie Meylian, Martin Pickering and Willie Johnson.
