The pictures of Lois were taken at an officer's picnic in 1962 at Columbus Air Force Base.

-----
Lois was the fifth of Charles Herman & Johanna (Sorbel) Ulen's 12 children. She attended Kahler School of Nursing in Rochester, MN where she graduated as a registered nurse. Lois married Gordon H. Kramer in March 1949 & lived in St. Paul, MN. Their marriage, which lasted about 10 years, ended in divorce.
In July of 1961, she received a commission in the USAF and was stationed at Columbus Air Force Base in Columbus, MS, where her duties included general nursing. We met about a year later, when I arrived at Columbus AFB.
-----
Many thank to Maxine Nordmeier, her sister, who provided the following information:
Following her assignment at Columbus, Lois served a stressful tour in the Philippines dealing with some of the wounded from Vietnam. After nine or ten years, she left the Air Force and returned to MN where she worked as a civilian nurse.
Lois bought a home in West St. Paul, MN. On November 28, 1970, she died in her home from an apparent heart attack after some household chores and shoveling snow.
