Michael Barrett

Was born May 22, 1950 and died peacefully at home in Coos Bay, Oregon on July 15, 2011 at 6:00am in front of his favorite view of the Bay through the big bay windows that he built with his own hands years ago. Mikey courageously battled multiple myeloma since 2007 when he retired from the Coos County Forestry Department.

Mikey loved the outdoors and was an avid hiker. He was in excellent condition, hiking all but 100 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail over 10 years. He built an amazing home by himself for his wonderful wife, Betsy, and their two children Kara and Aaron. He owned heavily treed forest land nearby that he loved to visit, explore and care for.

While Mikey worked for the Coos County Forestry Department, he met and fell in love with Betsy Rene Carroll Barrett. Mikey was on jury duty, and Betsy was the court reporter. They were later married in 1985 and went on to enjoy 25 years of marriage, both passing within 6 months of each other in 2011.

Mikey, we love you miss you.
