Margaret E. Pigate August 23, 1921 - July 27, 2009 COLUMBUS, GA— Margaret E. Pigate, age 87, resident of Columbus, died on Monday, July 27, 2009 at St. Francis Hospital. Funeral services are scheduled at the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus on Thursday, July 30, 2009, 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Clark Standard officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 29, 2009 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Mrs. Pigate, daughter of the late Joseph Broadwell and Charity Oliver Broadwell, was born August 23, 1921 in Highpoint, NC. She was a former Cosmetic Consultant with the Post Exchange and later retired as a Bookkeeper for the Accounting Office at Fort Benning, where she faithfully served for over 20 years. Mrs. Pigate was a member of Beallwood Baptist Church and also a member of the Eastern Star. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, SGM (Ret) Charlie L. Pigate; a sister, Frances Watson; and four brothers, Walter Broadwell, Bernie Broadwell, Odell Broadwell, and William Broadwell. Mrs. Pigate is survived by one daughter, Pat Geschickter and her husband Charles of Dumfries, VA; two granddaughters, Deborah Giordano and Dana Ramsey of Stafford, VA; five great-grandsons; four nephews; three nieces; other relatives and friends.
