Lanny was born in 1943 to Landreth Ivan Pruitt and Mildred Grace Wallace Pruitt. He left school early to join the Navy in 1960 and served in the Navy until 1970. He had 3 kids, a daughter and 2 sons. In 1979 he tragically lost his 13 year old son Landreth "Lanny" Pruitt Jr. to a drowning accident while living in Chester Va. Lanny loved the open road and spent most of his working years when he left the Navy travelling the country in the cab of a big rig. When he was home, he loved to spend time with his family and his wife Sandra Schlick Pruitt. He served for several years as a volunteer firefighter with Mt Mourne VFD. In 1998, he lost his first wife to cancer and after a few years he met and fell in love with his second wife Holly Beck Eagle who surives. Lanny passed away from a heart attack the day after Christmas 2010. His family misses him terribly. He was preceeded in death by his sister Judith Pruitt Moore and his brother Jimmy Leon Pruitt. In addition to his wife he leaves to cherish his memory his daughter Theresa Lynn Pruitt Helms, his son Jimmy Marcus "Marc" Pruitt, grandchildren Stacy, Lanna, Laura, and Robbie Miller and Elijah and McKenna Pruitt, two great grandchildren Sadie Waugh and Nataleigh Miller, and his sister Sandra Pruitt Chase.
