Rosemary Morphew Acree was born May 29, 1931 in Eagle Pass, TX to Sylva Milton (S.M.) and Maisie (nee Ratcliffe) Morphew and departed to her Father's House in Heaven on July 12, 2011 of complications of breast cancer.
We were blessed by her love and courageous presence in our lives, admiring her for refusing to be a victim to cancer. Rosemary showed strength of spirit and willingness to "roll with the punches" continuing to be active until her death. Although not known for her cooking, she was a true "domestic diva". Decorating was her passion and she did it well.
She went to school in St Louis, OK where she graduated as valedictorian of her class while also performing as a twirler and playing three instruments in the band. Following her husband on to Oklahoma University, Rosemary began making a loving home for her growing family.
After the University of Oklahoma she began to define the role of quintessential Texas football coach's wife over the next 29 years living in Bonham, Corsicana, Richardson, Lubbock, Midland and Palestine, TX.
She is welcomed to heaven by her loving husband of 48 years, James DeWitt Acree, who was the love of her life, but she always said being married to Jim was like trying to hold a tiger by the tail. She was so proud of him, her family, all the young men Jim coached and the coaches' wives she mentored over the years, especially her dear friend Margaret Moore. She loved to tell funny stories of her family, the players, coaches and coaches' wives who were in the program.
Also welcoming her "home" are her parents, best friend and sister-of- the-heart, Josephine P. McNutt, sister-in-law Imogene Mask, brothers-in-law Wayne Mayfield and Bob Cocanower, and Zena.
She is survived by one son Felix Acree of The Woodlands, TX; three daughters, Susan Kane of Richardson, TX, Debbie McCall of Houston, TX and Nancy Skalsky of Austin, TX; 11 grand children and 6 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ann Cocanower of Ft Worth, TX and Jane Mayfield of Diamond Head, MS; 3 brothers-in-law, Dr. Stan Acree and wife Carol of Midwest City, OK, Sam Acree and wife Jacky of Maud, OK, Dee Acree and wife Debbie of Granbury, TX; 2 sisters-in-law, Janette Johnson of Kirbyville, TX, Midge Richards and husband Lee of Maud, OK; as well as a host of other family and friends, and her faithful Chihuahua, Zorkie.

The celebration of her life will be Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 11:00 am at First United Methodist Church, 320 N. 15th St, Corsicana, TX with Rev. Mike Alexander officiating. All of us will miss her dearly and keep her close in our thoughts as we try to show the character she wanted us to have.
