He received his Bachelor of Science degree, graduating Phi Beta Kappa, from Lawrence University in Appleton, WI and a masters degree in physics from Williams College.
He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Air Corps while stationed in Greenland and was a research scientist in the paper industry for 35 years.
Music was an integral part of Norman's life. He shared his talents, managing and playing with the Geriatric Jazz band, for over 25 years. Norman was dedicated to his church and the Christian faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; brothers Harold and Vernon Beckman; and sisters, Viola and Bernice.
