Elmer Floyd Rudesill

Elmer Floyd Rudesill, age 78, a lifelong Baldwin resident died early Tuesday morning, February 27, at his residence with his wife Carole by his side following an illness with Pulmonary Fibrosis.

Elmer was born on October 19, 1922, in Baldwin, Wisconsin, the son of Lloyd and Elizabeth (Brummels) Rudesill. Elmer attended the Three Willow Elementary School in Baldwin and graduated from Baldwin High School in 1939.

Following high school he was an over-the-road truck driver and hauled milk for a short time. On July 12, 1945, he was united in marriage to Carole Henrietta Huenink at Carole's parents' home in Baldwin. This union would be blessed with one daughter Lynne Estelle.

Elmer worked many years for the Village of Baldwin as the Superintendent for their Waste disposal plant. He retired from the Village in 1988. The next couple years were the greatest years of their lives for Carole and Elmer as they spent the summers on Devil's Island off Lake Superior near the Apostle Islands. Together, they operated the light house and thoroughly enjoyed the scenic beauty. They also enjoyed traveling. They visited most of the states and England.

During his pastime, Elmer liked fishing and bowling. Those who knew Elmer, appreciated his collection of antique clocks and his ability to repair antique clocks. He was an active member of the First United Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder.

Elmer is survived by Carole, his wife of 55 years; son-in-law Floyd Anderson; grandchildren Rebecca (Donald) Timmerman of Baldwin, Chad Anderson of Baldwin; great-grandchildren Tony, Cayla, Andrew, and Megan.

Elmer was preceded in death by his daughter Lynne who died only three days prior; and brothers Gordon and Stanley.

The funeral service for Elmer Rudesill was Friday, March 2, at the First Presbyterian Church in Baldwin. Pastor Matthew Glasgow officiated. Organist Jayne Bradford accompanied special singing by Steve and Rick Holle. Casketbearers were Ken Nygaard, Mike Geurkink, Larry Wubbels, Russ Serier, Earl Huenink, and Bill Hawley. Interment was in the Baldwin Cemetery.

Funeral services were arranged by the O'Connell Family Funeral Home in Baldwin.
