Gene Virgil DuPont
Gene Virgil DuPont, 86, of Bretz, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001, at Ruby Memorial Hospital.
He was born Feb. 11, 1915, in Hartford, Ark., son of the late Dominic and Julia Nena DuPont. He retired from Arkwright Coal Co., a division of Consolidation Coal Co., where he was an equipment operator. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He formerly belonged to bowling leagues in Kingwood and Reedsville. He was a member of UMW Local 1289 in Morgantown and the St. Zita Catholic Church in Masontown.
He is survived by two daughters and spouses, Linda and Michael Richardson Miller, of Chester, Va., and Veronica "Roni" and Terry Rojahn, of Corapolis, Pa.; a brother, Louis DuPont, of Bretz; five grandchildren and spouses, Stacy and Matt Borror, of Kingwood, Mike and Jackie Richardson, of Charlotte, N.C., Joe and Amy Richardson, of Elizabeth City, N.C., Angelia Rojahn, and Thomas Rojahn, both of Coraopolis, Pa.; six great-grandchildren, Martin Borror, Zachery Richardson, Jacob Borror, Josh Richardson, Dominic Richardson and Jennifer Richardson.
He was also preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Mary Elizabeth DuPont, on Aug. 6, 1995; three brothers, John DuPont, Joe DuPont and Milio DuPont; and two sisters, Mary Dalzot and Kathryn Canich.
Friends may call at James G. Lobb Funeral Home, W.Va. 7, Reedsville, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, with a prayer vigil at 8:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 21, at St. Zita Catholic Church, Masontown.
