HOMER – Our community has again been saddened by the death of another lifelong resident. Early Saturday evening the news began to spread that Mrs. Lovilla A. Wakefield had just died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Langdon on the Scott road. While she had been in failing health for some time, her illness took a sudden turn for the worse Friday evening.

Mrs. Wakefield was one of seven children of the late Samuel and Lucy Miles Andrews. Samuel F. and William P. are the only survivors of that family.

In early life the deceased married William Wakefield and with him lived for many years on the Scott road. Soon after the death of her husband in 1908, she removed to Homer and cared for her mother, later moving to Pine-st.

She is survived by two sons, Newell W. of Canandaigua, Guy E. of Rochester, and two daughters, Maude I. Langdon of the Scott road and Mabel A. Lee of Syracuse; also by five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Wakefield became a member of the Congregational church when a young woman, and has always been an active and happy worker in various capacities. In the nearly seventy-one years she lived, she was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand whenever the need came. Her family and many friends will miss her pleasant face and cheery disposition. Her wonderful devotion to her family, church and charity has endeared her memory to all.

The funeral at the Congregational church was very largely attended by relatives and friends, many attesting by their floral offerings their sympathy and the high esteem in which the deceased was held. Rev. John A. Hatter, the pastor, officiated and H. H. Blackman sang to appropriate selections very acceptably. The pall bearers were the sons, Newell W. and Guy Wakefield, and two sons-in-law, George Langdon and Edward Lee, and the two surviving brothers, William and Samuel F. Andrews. Burial was made in Atwater cemetery.
