Hazel Elizabeth Spragg, 90, of Alpena, passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2011, at Tendercare Alpena.

The former Hazel Diem was born in Alpena at the home of her parents, the late Edward Godfrey Diem and Sarah Elizabeth (Hazelwood) Diem on April 11, 1921.

On August 12, 1939 Hazel married Clarence I. Spragg, and he preceded her in death on November 25, 1996. Hazel was a member of the First Baptist Church for most of her life; and, in addition to the love for her family, she loved her God, was inspired by Jesus, and was faithful to the Holy Spirit. Hazel enjoyed being a wife and mother, baking, playing games, shooting archery, and especially she liked to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving were 2 sons, Donald (Lois) Spragg of Rockwall, Texas, Gary (Barb) Spragg of Lachine; 1 daughter, Diane R. Smith of Elkhart, Indiana, 7 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Hazel Spragg was preceded in death by her siblings, Wilma Adelaide Connon, Norma Marie Reynolds, Edward Newton Diem, Ivan Willis Diem, George Richard Diem, Ruth Jane Jaskolski, and Willard Henry Diem.
