Came to Kansas in 1855 with his parents. Early years were spent in Ottumwa, Coffey County, Kansas. Later years lived in Humbolt, Coffeyville and Burlington Kansas. Raised a family with Mary Alice Shawbell. One daughter and four sons. Main occupation farming and stockman.
Children: Clyde Lewis Shawbell, Maye Ethel Shawbell Berry, Frank Shawbell, Harry D. Shawbell, John Claude Shawbell. Note: both spellings of Shaubell/Shawbell were used by various family members.
