BILLINGS - Former Great Falls resident and retired librarian Freda Marjean Good-Nisbet, 88, died Saturday, Jan. 15, at her home in Billings, after a long illness.

Born in Great Falls on July 27, 1922, to Charles and Kate Good of Floweree, Freda was raised on a homestead north of Great Falls, and was one of eight children.

She attended a one-room school until she moved into Great Falls to attend high school. Following graduation in 1940, she was employed with a number of local businesses as a secretary and bookkeeper. She married Robert Nisbet in 1946, and they resided on the West Side of Great Falls until the Sun River flood of 1964. She divorced Robert in 1965, and did not remarry.

She returned to college to pursue her passion for books and, in 1977, received a B.A. in library science from Eastern Montana College. She returned to Great Falls and served as school librarian for Riverview and Valley View elementary schools until her retirement in 1984.

Having lived with the wind for 60 years, she moved to Bigfork to enjoy a quieter life on Flathead Lake. She subsequently moved to Missoula, and lived there for a number of years until finally relocating to Billings to live with her son.

An avid sports fan, Freda had a lifelong love affair with golf and traveled many miles to visit regional courses with her golfing buddies. She loved baseball and would root for any team that would beat the Yankees. A Griz fan above all else, she had more maroon and silver coats than any other two people.

She was a fighter until the very end. She survived breast cancer, and suffered several heart attacks and COPD.

Freda is survived by her sister, her 2 sons and their wives, her 4 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Kate Good; brothers Elton Good, Melvin Good and Paul Good; sisters Rachel Good and Beryl Whitton, and her twin sister, Ferne Young.
