Jean Creighton Booth, 88, of Seminole, Florida met her Savior on July 14, 2011. She was a resident under the wonderful care of The Villa's of Casa Celeste assisted living facility and of Suncoast Hospice.

Jean was born February 18, 1923 in Atlanta, Ohio to Omar and Nellie Creighton. She had two sisters, Ruth and Ellen, and one brother, William, all of whom preceded her in death. Jean was married to Richard Booth for 58 years, until his death in 2009.


She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Darrow and Barbara Wheeler. Carolyn and her husband Clem Darrow are from BelAir, Maryland, they have two children, Stephen and Jackie. Barbara and her husband John Wheeler are from Largo, Florida, they have two children Jon and Josh. She has one great grandson, Noah, the son of Jon and Elina Wheeler of Seminole, Florida.


Jean put herself through school during World War II, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in music from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio. She taught music, until her retirement in 2004, and many of her students went on to obtain scholarships. She was awarded too many honors to mention for her teaching. She was also choir director and organist for Reformation Lutheran church in Euclid, Ohio for 12 years. After moving to Cincinnati she was choir director at Atonement Lutheran Church in Cincinnati, Ohio for many years. In addition to her music career, she was employed by General Electric, as an international business coordinator. She retired from GE in 1993.


Before moving to Florida in 2004 she and her husband resided in Cincinnati, Ohio for 36 years. Jean and her family were always active in their church, and she was a member of Christ the King Presbyterian Church in Seminole, Florida. She was an accomplished musician and singer, and loved to teach children and teens.


Funeral services will be held Sunday July 17th at 4:00PM at Christ the King Presbyterian Church at 5400 Seminole Blvd, Seminole, Florida 33770. Peter B. LaPointe, Minister, will officiate. There will be a reception at the church following the funeral. Interment will be Monday the 18th at Calvary Catholic Cemetery at 3:00PM, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband, Richard. Visitation will be held Saturday evening July 16th at Lewis W. Mohn Funeral Home at 9700 Seminole Blvd, Seminole, Florida 33772 from 6:00 to 8:00PM.


The family requests that donations to the Benevolence Fund of Christ the King Presbyterian Church be given in lieu of flowers. Jean's favorite Scripture was Job 19:25-27, " For I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last He will stand upon the earth. And after my skin has been thus destroyed, yet in my flesh I shall see God, whom I shall see for myself, and my eyes shall behold, and not another. My heart faints within me"!
