Doris M. Bass McBride, 81, of Nicoma Park, was called home to her Saviour on Sunday, March 17, 2002, after a lengthy battle with health problems. She was born to James Melvin & Willie Lillie (Scruggs) Bass, on March 8, 1921, in Alma, OK. She came to Nicoma Park in 1953, previously living in OKC. She retired in 1981 after working as a line supervisor for Lyntone Belts. Doris enjoyed outdoor activities including gardening (vegetable & flowers), fishing, and traveling.
Also playing dominos was a favorite pastime. She was a member of the MWC Lodge Chapter 491 Order of the Eastern Stars. Doris is survived by her daughter & greatest companion, Debbie Thayer & husband, Rick of Choctaw, 2 grandsons, Michael Thayer of Choctaw, and Bo Martin of Tulsa, 2 granddaughters; Christy Partin of Blanchard, and Angela Thayer Lindsey of Del City, 4 great grandchildren, and sister, Opal Wishon of Britton. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, James, Cole, and Melvin, 2 sisters, Vivian Owens, and Nadine Hill. The family will be at the funeral home between 7-9 PM Tuesday to greet friends. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, 3/20/2002, at the Barnes & Johnson FH Chapel with burial at Memorial Park in Edmond.
