US Congressman. During World War I he served as a Sergeant in the United States Marines from 1916 to 1919. Admitted to the Indiana bar in 1920, he commenced practice in Indianapolis. He served as a United States Representative from Indiana from 1925 to 1929. He was commissioned a Captain in the United States Marine Corps Reserves in 1942, and served in the South Pacific with the First Marine Division, Fleet Marine Force, during World War II.
