Alice May Houston, nee, Underwood, 102, of Belleville, Illinois, formerly of East St. Louis, Ill., born Thursday, May 27, 1909, in Murphysboro, Ill., died Sunday, July 17, 2011, at St. Paul's Home in Belleville, Ill.
Alice was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution - Cahokia Mounds Chapter and the American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 53 of East Saint Louis, Ill. Alice's family has lived in North America since 1752.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Houston; parents, Daniel Webster and Sarah Jane, nee Rendleman, Underwood; son-in-law, Fred L. McDaniel, daughter-in-law, Dolores Houston; granddaughter, Kathleen Baudendistel; grandson-in-law, Craig Buesking; brothers, Aaron Reed Underwood and Daniel W. Underwood; sisters, Hazel Sarchett, Harriett Williams, Mildred Britton and Mary Howenstein.
Surviving are her daughter, Louise M. McDaniel of Belleville, Ill.; son, Jack Houston of Collinsville, Ill.; former daughter-in-law, Betty Houston; grandchildren, Karen Buesking of Kansas City, Mo., J. Kevin (Colleen) McDaniel of Belleville, Ill., Suzanne (Larry) Brown of Waterloo, Ill., Michele (Al) Goodman of Waterloo, Ill., Jack (Janet) Houston of Waterloo, Ill., Sam (Gina) Houston of Red Bud, Ill., and Lisa May of Waterloo, Ill.; grandson-in-law, Bill Baudendistel of Belleville, Ill.; 22 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
