George E. Squires, 78, Indianapolis, passed away November 29, 2003. George was born June 27, 1925 in Sullivan County.
He attended Lebanon High School and Purdue University graduating with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1954. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp. for 5 years during WWII and the Korean War. He was employed at the Indiana Department of Highways as a civil engineer for 33 years. He was an active member of Faith United Methodist Church serving as lay leader, treasurer and Sunday School teacher. He was also a member of Brookside Lodge #720 F.&AM. for over 50 years.
Services will be Tuesday, December 2, 2003, at 12 Noon at Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel with visitation Monday, December 1, 2003, from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at Washington Park East Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Hacker Squires, son, Mark Squires of Shelbyville, daughter, Kay (David) Smith of Batesville, grandchildren, Kathryn and Jacob of Batesville and Joseph of West Lafayette. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 9031 E. 16th St., Indianapolis, IN 46229.
