Mullins - Edward G. Carmichael, 78, died Saturday morning at the home of his niece, Mrs. Ralph Fisher. He had been in declining health for several years.

He was born in Dillon County, the son of the late E.D. and Annie Carmichael. He was married to the late Sally Carlisle.

He was a retired druggist, having attended the University of South Carolina and the Charleston Medical College. He operated the Carmichael Drug Company in Mullins and was later associated with the Baer Drug Store at Bennettsville.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Bennettsville. he was the last surviving member of a prominent Dillon County pioneer family.

He is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at Cox-Collins Funeral Home Sunday at 3 p.m. by Rev. Lucius B. Dubose. Burial will be in Cedardale Cemetery.
