Vesta graduated from Broadway High School and worked at the Hecht Company in Washington, DC. After marrying George Abbott on June 14, 1945, they made their home in Timberville. George preceded her in death on November 2, 1991.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Broadway where she taught Sunday School and directed Bible School for many years. She was active in the United Methodist Women and TOTS. In addition to being a homemaker, she kept the books for Abbott's Garage. She worked for Weight Watchers. Spending time with family and friends brought her much joy. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Broadway-Timberville Senior Center where she served on their advisory board.
Vesta is survived by her daughters, Linda Fulk (Steve) and Debbi Long; grandchildren, Jason and Jeremy Fulk, and Kelly and Ryan Long; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Leah, and Mason Fulk.
Visitation will be held at Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway on Monday, July 22 from 7-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at First United Methodist Church of Broadway on Tuesday, July 23 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at the Linville Creek Cemetery in Broadway.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Vesta's memory may be made to First United Methodist Church of Broadway.
Her brother Ray Clift
Also has a sister Frances Miller, of Maryland.
