Many Families Invaded During the Past Week.
...Mrs. Adair living in east Lamoni who suffered a stroke of paralysis several weeks ago, passed away Sunday morning, her death being hastened by an acute attack of the "flu."

Mrs. Adair leaves a husband and young son in the home. A daughter, Mrs. Cole of west Lamoni, and two sons somewhere in France, who she longed to see but was denied the privilege.

Source: The Lamoni Chronicle, published in Lamoni, Iowa on Thursday, December 12th, 1918, pg. 1

NOTE: The flu pandemic of 1918-1919 killed an estimated 50 million people throughout the world. Lamoni didn't escape the devastation.
