JAKE REESER JOINS THE VAST MAJORITY
Aged Pioneer of Rocky Bar Passes Awayafter Weeks of Suffering - Masons Will Arrange Funeral
Jake Reeser, one of the sturdiest and kindliest of Idaho pioneers, breathed his last at St. Alphonsus hosipital yesterday. He had been ill for several weeks and his friends had long since feared he would not recover. His body was taken to Schriber & Brennan's undertaking parlors and his brother in Shoemakerville, Pennsylvania notified. The Masons will have charge of the funeral services which will not be arranged for until his relatives are heard from.
Jake Reeser was a native of Pennsylvania and came to Rocky Bar in the early 60's. In the pioneer days he owned the celebrated Vishnu mine and had been interested in many valuable properties.
During the contests which led to the division of Alturas county he as a prominent figure and was credited with having done probably more than any other man to bring about the partition.
Reeser's health began to fail him last autumn and soon afterwards he decided to come to Boise for treatment. His 70 years told upon him and he steadily declined.
Years ago Reeser became a member of Alturas lodge No. 12, A. F. & A. M. He never married and had no relatives in this state. His most valued possession was the unswerving friendship and good will of the thousands who knew and appareciated his sterling character.
