Geneva Latreal Steward Releford, daughter of the late William Steward and Mrs. Savannah Steward was born July 23, 1916, in Kibler, Arkansas. She attended A.M.E. Methodist Church during her early childhood. She attended Newtown Elementary School, a graduate of Lincoln High School in fort Smith, Arkansas. A language and English major while attending Phalander Smith College, Little Rock, Arkansas. She taught school at Cane Hill, Arkansas.

In 1936 she married the late James Roy Releford in Van Buren, Arkansas. To this union four children were born. later she joined Saint Matthew Baptist Church where she remained until her death.

Sister Releford deprted this life Sunday, March 23, 1980, at a local hospital. She leaves to mourn her death, two sons, her mother, three step-sons, two step-daughters, eighteen grandchildren and a hosts of relatives and friends.
